| About the Trip
Team members include: Ella Sannes, Anneka Christensen, Cate Ehle, Ana Mikkelson, and advisor Ms. White.
The Stoughton FFA Dairy Judging Team, who recently achieved an incredible honor — placing first out of 116 teams at the World Dairy Expo (for the first time in history), has been invited to represent our community and country on an international dairy judging tour in Scotland and Ireland in June 2026.
This once-in-a-lifetime educational experience will allow the students to broaden their agricultural knowledge, connect with farmers and producers overseas, and deepen their understanding of global dairy production. It is a tremendous honor — and a reflection of their dedication, leadership, and hard work.
From June 17 to June 29, the students will attend the World Highland Show and the Charleville Agriculture Show, with the opportunity to judge on a national stage at both events. They’ll have the opportunity to tour numerous dairy operations, meet with their employees and owners, as well as visit the Scottish Museum of Rural Life, and many other agriculturally related tour stops throughout Scotland and Ireland.
Purpose for Request
We are asking your organization to fund a portion of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Grant money will be used to fund different portions of the students’ trip. Costs for the trip include airfare, lodging, meals, local transportation, and contest fees. The overall cost for the trip is approximately $6,000 per person. Attending an international dairy judging trip provides students with an exceptional opportunity to expand their knowledge, skills, and global perspective in the agricultural industry. After earning this experience by placing first at the World Dairy Expo, students will not only represent their school and community with pride but also gain hands-on exposure to diverse dairy operations, breeds, and management practices worldwide. This trip allows them to refine their judging abilities, compare production systems, and understand how cultural and environmental factors influence agriculture. Beyond technical knowledge, students develop valuable leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills while building connections with peers and professionals from across the globe—experiences that will serve them well in their future agricultural careers and beyond. Without grant funding and other fundraising opportunities, this trip would not be possible. |
