The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc. (START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

What We Do

Learn about the Stoughton Area Community Foundaton

Mission: The mission of the Stoughton Area Community Foundation is to make a difference in the lives of area residents through charitable donations.

Vision: Connecting people who care with causes that matter to enrich the Stoughton community.

History: The Stoughton Area Community Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 charity established by a group of caring citizens with the help of an anonymous donor. Wanting to leave money to the community he loved, but not knowing what its needs would be in the future, a Foundation was established in 1998 as a way for Stoughton Area Residents to give back to their community. The Foundation accepts tax-deductible donations, invests the money, and provides grants to area organizations for their projects and good works in the community. Donations, both large and small, come from businesses, corporations, estates, and from individuals who care about the future of the Stoughton Area and its citizens.

The Foundation works with an expanding pool of charitable dollars donated by people willing to invest in the future of the Stoughton area to enhance the quality of life for the Stoughton area and its citizens. SACF distributes funds each year in the form of grants which favor projects that propose practical solutions to current community needs, promote collaboration in addressing positive change, promote volunteer involvement and/or strengthen an organization's effectiveness and stability. College scholarships are also given to graduates of Stoughton High School.

The foundation has three main goals:

1. To professionally manage charitable gifts and provide grants and scholarships in a manner consistent with the donors’ specific and general interests;
2. To strengthen the nonprofit agencies and institutions which offer programs in education, social welfare, health care, the arts, community development, historic preservation and other fields;
3. To provide philanthropic opportunities by matching community needs with public and private responses.

Letter from the President:

Welcome to the Stoughton Area Community Foundation(SACF). On behalf of the entire current board of directors we hope you find the information you are looking for or contact us if we can be of further assistance. In this 25th year of operation the SACF has lived up to the expectations of the original SACF Board and legal professionals that helped start this not for profit organization.In short, make Stoughton Area better and stronger for as many people as possible. The accomplishments have been amazing in terms of donations and pass through support. The endowments, funds and scholarships have accomplished more than what could have been ever planned by the original SACF Board.

The past several months have been overwhelming in advancement, recognition and responsibility of the SACF. Increased donations, grant money, scholarship and local organizational support are growing. So whether you are seeking information, applying for a grant, wanting to donate or just learn more about the SACF you are in the right location. Updates and additional information is being added to regularly from our entire volunteer board members or the professionals that serve the SACF organization. We are building on the past for the benefit of the future. The scope and diversity of programs offered are extensive, but our three main areas of focus are Grants, Scholarships/endowments,and Pass Throughs.

Due to all the wonderful progress we are daily working to improve our effectiveness. Again each of us serving on the SACF Board of Directors want you to be welcomed and important as we all work to make progress. Contact any of the directors or respond to the SACF web page for help in achieving the goals you or your organization. Since we are focused on the Stoughton community where most of us live, work, or enjoy life  a personal phone call or visit  is always welcome.

With deepest sincerity Jerry Wendt- 2023-2024 SACF Board President and all SACF Board Members
