Ways To Donate To SACF
You can donate financially or give of yourself

Financial Donation
The Stoughton Area Community Foundation accepts gifts and bequests from people who share a common interest in the future of the Stoughton Area. Monies received are professionally managed and invested so our pool of funds continues to grow. Donations of unrestricted (non-designated) funds made to the Foundation offer the greatest flexibility and are used to offer grants for projects, and to meet community needs.

Donations to the Foundation may also be made with a specific recipient designated, or made with any combination of designated and non-designated funds. Since we cannot know today what needs may arise in the future, our growing pool of funds will be distributed annually as the Grant Committee and our Board of Directors  recommend.

Ways you can give to the Stoughton Area Community Foundation:

  • Cash – The least complicated form of giving, in any amount and at any time.
  • Gifts - May be given as memorials, in honor of someone or in recognition of a special event.
  • Community Growth Fund  - Consider making a gift to the Growth Fund by setting up a regular automatic donation.  Electronic donations may be set up on a monthy, quarterly, semi annual or annual basis.  To set this up, please contact Edward Jones in Stoughton at 608-873-7131.  They will send you a form and will also request a void check for proof of account and routing information.
  • Stock – Appreciated Stock and Closely held Stock
  • Personal Property – Any assets may be left to the Foundation
  • Real Estate – Several options exist for Real Estate gifting, such as Life Estates and Charitable Remainder Trusts.
  • Bequests – By giving a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your assets through your will, your gift to the SACF will be exempt from estate tax.
  • Life Insurance or IRA's – Naming the Foundation as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy or qualified IRA allows the assets to transfer to the Foundation upon your death, reducing your estate and income taxes.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts – This option removes the asset from your taxable estate and a deduction may be taken in the year the gift is given.
  • Graduating Class Gifts – It takes a community to raise a child, and this is a perfect way to give back to the ones that helped you and your classmates become who you are today.
  • Donations in Honor or Memory of – What a fitting way to show how much you care.

Time and Talent Donations
The Stoughton Area Community Foundation is made up of several committees and an 11 member board of volunteers who are interested in building a better community for all.  We are looking for Stoughton area citizens to serve on the board and on committees.   Directors will be selected for their knowledge of the educational, cultural, civic, moral, public, and other charitable needs of the community, their capacity to make wise judgments on the use of philanthropic endowments to benefit the people of the Stoughton area School District community, and their qualifications to participate effectively in the enhancement of the assets of the Stoughton Area Community Foundation.

If you would like to share your time and talents and are interested in knowing more about one of the SACF committees or serving on the board or a committee, please contact us.

Additional Ways to Donate
There are many types of charitable gifts and ways of giving to the SACF that can be useful to you in your estate planning.  Please call your trusted financial advisor and/or contact SACF for more information on how you can help yourself, and at the same time, help the Foundation work toward a successful future for the people of the
Stoughton area!

Please be sure to check with your employer and see if they offer matching grants for any charitable gifts that you give. This is a wonderful way to double your gift!

The Stoughton Area Community Foundation is an established 501(C)3 nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status. We have taken the necessary legal steps to create a Foundation with the personnel and resources needed to ensure that the Foundation’s assets are well-protected and invested carefully. Various other nonprofit community organizations/projects have signed “PASS THROUGH AGREEMENTS” with the Foundation allowing them to use the available resources of the Foundation for their fundraising efforts. The Stoughton Opera House, Stoughton Area Resource Team (S.T.A.R.T.), Future Farmers of America (FFA), and the Collins Field Restoration Project are currently eligible for such “pass-through” contributions. All money designated for these organizations goes directly through us to them. The Foundation does not charge any fees for their services. A “pass-through” agreement is a win-win situation. The SACF manages all of the funds and provides the legal means for other organizations to receive donations. Since the Foundation is now dealing with a larger pool of funds, it allows us, SACF, to apply for larger grants from other foundations to add to our growing pool.
