| The bathroom remodel and flooring projects would start early 2026 while the grab bar could happen yet this year. |
| We have three home modification projects in Stoughton, a full bathroom remodel with zero entry shower, low profile flooring, and a grab bar installation, that we are seeking funding to help with the costs. The direct impact will be to the three children and their caregivers. The volunteer hours for each project will vary from 2 to 20 hours based on the project. The bathroom remodel will remove a tub surround and replace it will a zero entry shower eliminating the need to lift a twelve year old girl over the tub wall for showering. Currently this is causing injury on the caregivers bodies as well as being unsafe when the child is wet and slippery that she could be injured during the transfer from her wheelchair. By removing the existing carpet in the home and replacing it will low profile flooring such as LVP, the wheelchair user will be able to access all areas of the house and use other therapy equipment on the floor as well. The final project would be installing a fold down grab bar to be used at the toilet area to provide additional support to a teenage boy who is seeking more independence and safety in the bathroom. |
