| Free / Reduced Pool Fees for Children - 2024 |

| STAR approached me on how the pool could provide scholarships or reduce rates for several families. They already have a program in place to identify families that could benefit from reduced/free team membership fees. Once identified, the pool could offer reduced rates to those specific families, along with the reduced/free rates for being on the STAR team.
Similarly, there are several families recently resettled from Ukraine who are finding community within accessing the pool. The pool would like to offer reduced/free rates to these families, if they are enrolling in swim lessons or in STAR.
For many in our community, the pools fees are quite affordable. Id like the pool to be well poised to offer reduced/free fees to any family that may not be able to cover these costs. We live in the great state of Wisconsin, which boasts such amazing access to natural waterways and opportunities to swim. It has been well documented that youth drowning rates are becoming worse in the US compared to other developed countries. Its a personal mission of mine to provide as many opportunities for our kids in our community to be confident and safe in the water, and not to be afraid of such a wonderful gateway to wellness and fun outdoor recreation. |
| I am requesting funding for a pilot program to increase accessibility for families who are seeking financial aid for swim lessons and youth swim team participation.
The pool runs swim lessons during the spring and summer. Offering reduced/free rates for lessons would allow more families to enroll.
Similarly, one of our pool partners, STAR [SToughton Aqua Racers], has a reduced/fee fee program.
If our fees for swim lessons and STAR pool admissions were to be supported via a grant from SACF, more children would have access to the benefits of becoming safe and lifelong swimmers. |
