The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc.
(START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

DBT Groups - 2024 |
Amount Funded: $600.00 |
Mental Health has been a huge concerns post pandemic. Recent Dane County Youth Risk Assessment data revealed that over 40% of our students were experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression. The isolation during COVID caused social skill regression for many student. By explicitly teaching these skills students are better able to focus in class, manage day to day stressors and be more effective in their relationships. As a bonus, students really love the groups. |
We piloted the groups in 2021. We started with one group in that year. Last year we expanded and ran 6 groups due to high demand. Over the course of the last 3 years, we have had over 60 students particpate in the groups. There are a series of 3 groups, with 35 lessons total. Most students who try the 1st group, continue with the next 2. This year, our goal is to continue running at least 3 groups per semester. |
