The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc. (START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Opening Art Hive on Main Street - 2024 Amount Funded: $4,000.00
A partner is in the process of purchasing the building and we have already worked out the rental agreement. We expect to be able to implement these project goals as soon as we are in the space and have funding. We will open the Hive/Center as soon as we are able to get access to the space and set everything up. We have a large storage unit of art supplies and have volunteers ready to start as soon as we open (or before to help set up). The positive end impact to the Stoughton area residents and community: Stoughton residents face challenges related to social isolation, economic hardship, and mental health and the need to have a place to connect in our community. The need for a community space that fosters meaningful engagement, and creative expression is great. The LivingRoom Community Art Center will address this need by providing a safe and inclusive environment where individuals can connect, express themselves, and find support through art. It will also be a place for multi-generational interaction and a place to foster giving back to the community through our programs.
We have found a space on Main Street and are getting ready to sign a lease and open our doors. We are seeking a grant for our rent and also to start a fund to update the space with a first-floor bathroom so the Community center will be fully accessible. Currently there is only one bathroom in the basement of the building. We also want to purchase a kiln for pottery and have the goal of having Empty Bowls fundraisers for both the LivingRoom Community Art Center and area programs like the Senior Center Meals on Wheels, food pantries and summer meal programs for kids. The space will have refrigerators for nutritious snacks and food to take home for those in need. We will be more than just a great place to create art, we will be a place for the Stoughton Community to uplift and be uplifted. We will implement a comprehensive evaluation framework to measure the effectiveness of our programs. Key performance indicators will include participant satisfaction, attendance rates, and community engagement metrics. Regular assessments will inform program improvements and strategic decision-making to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our community.
