The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc.
(START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Graduation Guardian for SHS Seniors - 2024 |
Amount Funded: $1,000.00 |
The time for implementation is immediate as students apply for help. Hopefully, the positive impact will be to jumpstart Stoughton high school seniors to successfully move to post-graduation, knowing that there were people who believed in them and were willing to help as they go out into the world. |
This grant will supply funds for Stoughton High School seniors who dont have access to resources from home to help them navigate through their senior year. Items might include yearbooks, cap and gown rentals, graduation party supplies, dorm supplies for college, college application fees. The purpose is to provide small monetary items to take the burden off seniors who may not have other support. This was our first year and we bought 10 yearbooks and paid for dorm supplies for a new UW student. I am sure that the program will expand as the teachers and counselors become aware of the availability of this resource. I also anticipate that we will extend the program to the whole school year instead of just the spring semester. The hours of volunteer time will vary, but should be minimal as counselors just need to identify students who may need help. |
