The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc. (START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Video Conference and Streaming System - 2023 Amount Funded: $10,000.00
The project would begin later this fall and be complete by the end of December. The funds will allow us to purchase and install the necessary equipment to make it all happen and includes: dedicated room video pc, USB extreme video extended, USB audio converter, wireless keyboard and mouse, dedicated monitor at rack, reprogram existing sound processor, IT support, cables, installation and programming. Weekly concerts are already planned for the fall, we have several volunteers who have agreed to be interviewed live while being recorded. We will have a database of stories shared from our residents which we will add to continually. Those unable to make it to chapel for services will be able to watch the live stream from home as well as watch previously recorded services. Another benefit will be that relatives who cannot not attend in person will be able to view funeral and/or celebration of life services. Skaalen Retirement Community is well known for its quality care and services. We can have a greater positive impact on our community by giving our residents a voice to share their life stories. There is so much wisdom the younger generations can gain by listening to the older generation and what they have learned throughout their lives. We must look ahead, knowing one day we may need care. By creating a video conference platform and updating our digital streaming and sound, we seek to offer the best care for residents, staff, and their families.
The Covid 19 pandemic, despite the difficulties, has opened many ways for us to get creative in serving our residents and staff. While weve lifted many restrictions due to the pandemic, all of that changes with an outbreak. Wed like to be better equipped to offer live and video streaming for our over 750 residents and staff. This project will allow us to stream our worship services, as well as interviews with residents and staff, and other activities to enhance the lives of those we serve and those we serve with. One of our goals is to have the Sunday morning worship service available to all our residents and staff via the internet. We are also working on a project that will record and stream interviews of residents and staff sharing their life stories that we might get to know each other better and therefore become better as serving as a team. The activity department will benefit as well as we will be able to create specialized programing for our residents and staff, as well as digital media to inform the friends and family of our residents and staff. The other part of this project is creating a platform for video conferencing. This will serve our department heads as they meet with our board of directors on internet platforms. It will also give us the opportunity to have guests join us from all over the world to offer programming for our residents and staff.
