The Stoughton Area Resource Team, Inc. (START) provides a safety net for those in crisis. Recently, a 30-year old single father of two struggled to find work, to pay for daycare for his children and to secure a home; so much time was spent homeless and hopeless.

Ways To Give To SACF

You can donate financially or give of yourself

The Stoughton Area Community Foundation was created in 1998, as a way to support the Stoughton community. Since its start, almost 25 years ago, it has helped over 50 organizations and given over $800,000 back to the Stoughton area.

Your donations are used to provide local community organizations with funds to offer programs in education, social welfare, health care, the arts, community development, historic preservation and other fields. The Stoughton Area Resource Team (START), The Stoughton Personal Essentials Pantry, Stoughton Affordable Transportation Program and Stoughton Clothing Center are just a few of the organizations who have recently received grant money from SACF and have been able to expand their community programs.

Below are ways you can give to the Stoughton Area Community Foundation that allow us to help more organizations with their efforts. Please contact us for more information.

  Other Ways to Give
The Stoughton Area Community Foundation accepts gifts and bequests from people who share a common interest in the future of the Stoughton Area. Monies received are professionally managed and invested so our pool of funds continues to grow. Donations of unrestricted (non-designated) funds made to the Foundation offer the greatest flexibility and are used to offer grants for projects, and to meet community needs.

Donations to the Foundation may also be made with a specific recipient designated, or made with any combination of designated and non-designated funds. Since we cannot know today what needs may arise in the future, our growing pool of funds will be distributed annually as the Grant Committee and our Board of Directors  recommend.

Ways you can give to the Stoughton Area Community Foundation:

  • Gifts - May be given as memorials, in honor of someone or in recognition of a special event.

  • Community Growth Fund  - Consider making a gift to the Growth Fund by setting up a regular automatic donation.  Electronic donations may be set up on a monthy, quarterly, semi annual or annual basis.  To set this up, please contact Edward Jones in Stoughton at 608-873-7131.  They will send you a form and will also request a void check for proof of account and routing information.

  • Stock – Appreciated Stock and Closely held Stock

  • Cash – The least complicated form of giving, in any amount and at any time.

  • Personal Property – Any assets may be left to the Foundation

  • Real Estate – Several options exist for Real Estate gifting, such as Life Estates and Charitable Remainder Trusts.

  • Bequests – By giving a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your assets through your will, your gift to the SACF will be exempt from estate tax.

  • Life Insurance or IRA's – Naming the Foundation as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy or qualified IRA allows the assets to transfer to the Foundation upon your death, reducing your estate and income taxes.

  • Charitable Remainder Trusts – This option removes the asset from your taxable estate and a deduction may be taken in the year the gift is given.

  • Graduating Class Gifts – It takes a community to raise a child, and this is a perfect way to give back to the ones that helped you and your classmates become who you are today.

  • Donations in Honor or Memory of – What a fitting way to show how much you care.

Time and Talent Donations

If you would like to share your time and talents and are interested in knowing more about one of the SACF committees or serving on the board or a committee, please contact us.

Additional Ways to Donate
There are many types of charitable gifts and ways of giving to the SACF that can be useful to you in your estate planning.  Please call your trusted financial advisor and/or contact SACF for more information on how you can help yourself, and at the same time, help the Foundation work toward a successful future for the people of the Stoughton area!

Please be sure to check with your employer and see if they offer matching grants for any charitable gifts that you give. This is a wonderful way to double your gift!
